AORMC held sucessfully, Country winner Korea, Individual winner Jung Seung-Chul

Korea, Japan, and China, three Asian countries gathered to compete their skilles in Asian Online Riich Mahjong Championship(AORMC). It was held by Korean Mahjong League with successful.

Country winner was Korea, with continual strength in all time competition. Japan struggled from the beginning and to the last, but in final 4th round Japanese topped China by falling them into 4th place. China also fought well for the first time joining the competition, but unfortunately placed the last position.

Individual winner's also come from Korea. Mr. Jung Seung-Chul grapped Gokushimusou in 3rd round, enough to rush into top. He defended well to be the winner of the competition. The 2nd place was from Japan, Rocbo(独歩) of Tenhou 10dan. Mr. Yu Seung-Ho from Korea positioned in The 3rd place, by winning the 4th round to turn around.

For this honorable competition Tenhou sponsored us by providing 24 free-premium tickets. Korean players grapped 22 tickets by luck. We wish that next AORMC invite more countries, to become much bigger and splendid event.

On Oct. 1, 2011 Mahjong Saikyosen(http://www.mahjong-club.net/saikyosen/) Korean preliminaries was held in Rich Mahjong cafe(http://kml.or.kr/xe/176). Because 2 players who wins this competition will attend next stage in Japan, all players tried to their best.

After playing 3 games, final 1st and 2nd table were decided. Each winners of final table can go next stages. Players of 1st final table were Kown Ho-Jong, Lee Jun-Hee, Hyun Joon-Seop and Choi You-Jin. Players of 2nd final table were Park Se-Gi, Hyung Nam-Kyo, Jae Hwa-Jun and Jeong Seung-Cheol. Winner of 2nd final table is Jae Hwa-Jun. He keeps his scores at the end of the game and take a ticket which can go Japan.

The result of 1st final table was very dramatic. Very first time, Kown Ho-Jong was 1st place. But Lee Jun-Hee got a big point at the middle of game and take 1st place. After he take 1st place, he seemed get victory until the end of the game. But Hyun Joon-Seop won finally. His point was only about 1000 point more than Lee Jun-Hee.

Winner of 2011 KRMC is Kown Ho-Jong

2011 KRMC also held successfully with 28 players.

There are 2 special guests whose are Japanese professional players.

This is one of Japanese professional player named Saito Katsuhisa who has strong impression. His result of this competition is not good. But he gave us a deep impress with characterful game style.

This is another Japanese professional player named Takahashi Tsuneyuki who attended last year, too. His score was very good until 3rd round. But, his score was decreased at 4th round. Finally his ranking was 10th.

Winner is Kown Ho-Jong. He shows very good performance for every games. He earned very big scores.

2nd place is Hyun Joon-Seop. He got a ticket for Japanese Mahjong Competition(2011 Saikyosen) the day before. Moreover, he got 2nd place prize in 2011 KRMC. He is very strong player in this year.

The 2nd Korea-Japan Competition has been held successfully. As Korea considered seriously to choose the best participants who are fully familiar with Tenhou game channel. But Japan, who sent much competitive players for this event, overwhelmed Korea in players' Tenhou grades. Japanese participants were around 8~10 grades in Tenhou, while Korea only had 6 grade player at most.

For this time, players competed not only for one's honor, but for one's country as well. We summed each player's score by country, to determine the winner of nation-level confrontation.

Mr. Im Dong-Woo and Mr. Sibukawa rushed to high at the very beginning, and the competition flowed into these two player's noble match. However, too boring, Mr. Im beat Mr. Sibukawa at the 4th match by shooting Ms. Park Sang-Ah with Zu-Yi-Sou(Tou-3, 8th round), and it was the declaration of the winner.

besides Mr. Im's winning Zu-Yi-Sou, Mr. Kajimoto Takunori also won a Koku-Shi-Mu-Sou at the 2nd match. Two Yakuman for the competition.

2nd place was Mr. Cho Sung-Won, who kept his own pace to approach. He had a terrible luck at the 3rd match. Because Mr. Tubokawa Yoshiaki dropped out, He became the 3rd place by force, helplessly. Losing no hope, Mr. Cho calmly controlled his game to gain stable score, finished with satisfied results.

Mr. Takahashi Tsuneyuki had some inner flame to beat the competition, as he was poor at the previous competition. At the 2nd match Mr. Takahashi grapped the Dealer, and scored a Hane-man and a Man-kan in a row, directly mangling Mr. Tubokawa to drop out. But unfortunately, Mr. Im dominated the game with Yakuman at the last match, Mr. Takahashi had to be satisfied in 3rd place.

Mr. Kajimoto Takunori topped in net score at the end of the 2nd match thanks to his Yakuman, but he went a bit aggressive to become the 4th at the 3rd match. After He tried well to be better at the 4th match, he was able to settle in stable for 4rd place.

Japan sent the most powerful players in the country I believe, but Korean amateur players had an advantage from the beginning to the end. A great achievement for Korea Mahjong community indeed.

We now prepare for the next international online competition. We would like to invite other country as well, such as China or Taiwan, hoping this event to become Asian competition, and further, to become world international championship.

Korea-Japan Online Inter-Competition ended successfully

April 24th 2011, Korea-Japan Inter-Competition ended successfully. This competition consisted of total 4 rounds. Both winner and second place was Japanese players. On this competition, we can feel again that Japanese players are very strong. The winner was Katsuya Yamaya(Nickname : cpa1208), who kept score carefully in a tough fight until the end. The second place was Takunori Kajimoto(Nickname : takutei). Unfortunately, because he didn’t win at last match of 4th round, he couldn’t be winner by slight score. Especially, he won the second place leisurely while he was broadcasting the competition on the Internet. It was very impressing.

KML suffered financial damage by the destruction of the agreement with Japajyan

In Feb 12, 2011, KML and three Mahjong cafe, Shilim, Shinchen, and Japajyan have gathered to declare the agreement to held "KML Monthly Competitions." For every competition, Japajang would arrange a sponsor to investigate 1,000,000(won), which would be used to settle the competition, included winning prize, staff costs, preparing expenses, etc. KML have composed the standards, rules, and guidelines for the competition to have fair results in every competition, and to help every Mahjong cafe having their own competitions by their tastes..

By the agreement, the first competition would be held in Shinchen in Apr 9~10, and in May the second would be in Japajang. However, for May competition Japajang suddenly ignored the agreement that it should be followed the KML standards and rules for the competition. Japajang asked to held the May competition to be followed their own rules(that the player could come any time to play 3 times and sum scores which could be abused easily), which is breaking our agreement forcefully. And more than that, Japajyan threatened KML by giving away the sponsorship if its demand would not be acceptable.

Finally Japajyan informed the refusal of giving the sponsorship for the competition, not only May one but April event as well. We already have gathered participants for the April competition, and for the long discussion we've decided not to cancel the event. No sponsor, every KML staff had no choice to share the financial demand to held the competition with no error..

Japajyan damaged KML by this arrogant behavior, so we from now on would not have any relationship with it. And we would not hesitate to let every KML visitor know this issue, for preventing any further harm.

Our sincere Mahjong friends. KML are working heavily for nurturing the environment to enjoy Mahjong in Korea, and by international relationship we are helping every visitor enhance his/her competence in Mahjong. This unlucky issue severely damaged KML, but with your support and encouragement, we believe that we are able to fulfill our missions like before. Thank you.

Summary of 2010 and Plans for 2011 Korean Mahjong League

The last day of 2010 is finally passed. There was a lot of events occured in KML, too.

We've begun to contact foreign mahjong communities since 2009, and finally have achieved to settle internet homepage serving 3 languages in March 5 2010. By serving the homepage, more communications we could obtain from world mahjong hobbists, and we are still expanding the communty spaces. The homepage will be a step to gain capcities for helding and participating in coming international competitions.

In Oct 3 2010, we held for the first time an international mahjong competition. For the competition, many Japanese, European, American people sincerely helped us to have a fine event. With 3 Japanese professionals included, there were 7 Japanese, 1 Swedish, and 24 Korean players participated in the game. The competition was introduced by mahjong journals of Europe and Japan as well.

In homepage, we are trying to strengthen the contents by giving mahjong lesson columns, translating mahjong strategy books, and serving news of mahjong informations and issues. And also we are working to expand the mahjong space and culture by serving the "scoring system" to several mahjong clubs in Korea.

We are still working hard to have a good partnership with in-Korea mahjong clubs, and to settle the community for both Korean and foreigner by helding international competitions, etc. For now, at January 2011, we have a plan to held "Club championship" for the clubs all around Korea. In October, there will be a KRMC international competition. Also, we are in good talks for having "Korea-Japan Online competition" someday in 2011. And for the rich contents, we are struggling to solve copyright issues to introduce mahjong strategy books and manuals from Japan to everyone.

Result and Scenes of 2010 Korean Riichi Mahjong Championship

2010 Korean Riichi Mahjong Championship(2010 KRMC), Korea's first international competition in Seoul, was successfully held. 7 Japanese and 1 swedish foreign player was attended.

The Winner and the 2nd Place Plates are made of 99.99% pure gold.

Park Se-Gi(박세기, Korean) grapped the Winner Plate, he scored two 1st place and two 2nd place. At the first and second game he was not so good, but latter two game he owned greatfully to achieve the Gold Plate..

The 2nd Place Plates is owned by Tanaka Koji(Japanese), he is Mahjong Professional. He scored +54500 at the second game, rushed for the winner's glory. But for the third game he scored 3rd place, and with 98.8 full score, he awarded the 2nd Place.

Competition scenes

International competition it is, the orientation before the game was proceeded with 3 language translations.(It was indeed a hard work - translator) With giving honor to members who have prepared all the hard works for the competition, we explained about the schedules and rules of the competition.

Four Japanese and four Chinese auto-table was set for the competition. Some machines are a bit old, sometimes there were troubles but no big issues.

Mr. Kajimoto, a Japanese Mahjong Professional, has worked with iPhone for live broadcast, sending videos to overseas Japanese people who are interested in the competion.

Lunch scene. All the foreigners were gathered. Korean style boiled chicken pot must be delicious.

After the competition, all player were gathered to take pictures.

Also, many players were participated in dinner meeting, with drinks, with talks, everyone had a good time.

Thank you for all attendant, it was fun.

Logo and Slogan for Korean Mahjong League

We settled the logo from the Initials of Korean Mahjong League, pointed with green bamboo leaves on right top of green M letter, which represents Bamboos. Still in Korea it seems that Mahjong has ugly images, we called for the slogan "Mahjong, a Mental Sport", to emphasize Mahjong as a fine mental exercise and hobby.

- 10-20 uma point applied, after all four game is finished, the player with most points will be the winner. Next to the Winner will be 2nd place.

: No mid-game draw (ex. 4 same winds, 4 kongs, 4 riichis, 9 terminals & honours, 3 rons)
